Putting Limits On God

God*s power is absolute. He has His absolute will and His permissive will. There is no stopping His power in matters of His absolute will. In His permissive will He holds back His absolute power and permits humans to have their own way. His power is in His words and in His Word, the Bible.

Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Genesis 1:3: And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

That phrase And God said was repeated many times in the first chapter of Genesis. What God said happened every time.

God restrains His power because of human unbelief.

Matthew 13:58: And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Mark 6:5-6: And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Hebrews 4:2: For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

God restrains His power because of human disobedience.

Psalms 78:41: Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

God restrains His power because of human traditions.

Mark 7:13: Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Mark 7:8-9: For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

If we have faith in Him He will do great and mighty things beyond our understanding. If we have absolute faith in Him His absolute power shall accomplish His absolute will.

Jeremiah 33:3: Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Ephesians 3:20-21: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
